You need to decide if you are you going to contact an estate agent prior to your move, or stay in temporary accommodation while you look for your new home. Will you continue to use your UK bank account, or set up a new one? If so, will you need proof of residence to get a bank account? How will you finance the purchase? Are you looking for rental income? Which country should you choose? Is it better to buy into a brand-new development or go for a romantic renovation project? Do you want just a holiday home or somewhere in the sun to retire to permanently when the time comes? Is it a good investment? Will you have to pay tax? How good are the local health and social services?
